Caprese Salad

Fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil come together in this vibrant Caprese salad. Perfectly delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1.2 kg ripe tomatoes
  • 800 g mozzarella
  • 2 bunches fresh basil
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

How to make it

  1. Slice the tomatoes into even rounds and cut the mozzarella into slices of the same thickness so the layers will sit neatly together.
  2. Arrange the tomato slices and mozzarella slices on a large serving plate in overlapping rows, alternating red and white.
  3. Tuck whole basil leaves between and over the slices so the green stays visible.
  4. Sprinkle the fine salt evenly over the tomatoes and mozzarella, then dust with the black pepper.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the top so it catches on the tomato surfaces and the mozzarella.
  6. Serve immediately on a wide plate, with the salad arranged as a simple layered pattern and the basil leaves left whole on top.
