Bruschetta
Savor the crunch of toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and fragrant basil for a perfect appetizer!
Ingredients
- 1 large rustic loaf, cut into 8 thick slices
- 4 ripe tomatoes
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 handful basil leaves
- 1 tsp red wine vinegar
- 1 small red onion
- 1 tbsp olive oil for brushing
How to make it
- Dice the tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a bowl. Finely chop the red onion and basil leaves, then stir them in with the red wine vinegar, 3 tbsp olive oil, salt and black pepper.
- Let the tomato mixture stand for 10 minutes so the juices gather and the onion softens slightly.
- Heat the oven to 220°C. Brush both sides of the bread slices with the olive oil for brushing and bake them for 6 to 8 minutes until crisp and lightly golden.
- While the bread is still hot, rub each slice firmly with the cut sides of the garlic cloves so the surface picks up the garlic aroma.
- Spoon the tomato mixture generously over the toast and serve immediately on a flat plate, with the topping mounded in the center of each slice and a little of the dressing visible at the edges.
